Understanding the status of your My CFIA service request

One of the major benefits of using My CFIA to do business with the agency is the ability to track the status of your service requests.

If you've applied for a licence, permit, registration, or certificate using My CFIA, it's important that you check the status of the request so you're aware if:

How to track the status of your service request

To track the status of a service request submitted or saved:

  1. sign in to your My CFIA account
  2. select the party that you submitted the service request under
  3. scroll down to the Service Request section of your profile dashboard
  4. find the request you'd like to track the status of with the help of the Request ID and Application Name columns
  5. refer to the Status and Status Reason columns beside the service request to see its status

Definitions of all possible statuses

Status Case type Status reason Definition
Active Export or permission Open – Draft You haven't submitted your service request. You may need to add more information before we can process your request.
Active Export or permission Open – Submitted You have submitted your request.
Active Export or permission In progress – Preliminary review A CFIA agent needs to review your service request to make sure it's complete and meets requirements.
Active Permission In progress – Technical review A CFIA agent needs to check your service request to see if it's valid and can be accepted.
Active Export or permission In progress – Technical review stage 2 A CFIA agent with more expertise needs to review your service request to make sure it's valid.
Active Export or permission In progress – Technical review stage 3 A CFIA agent with more expertise needs to review your service request to make sure it's valid.
Active Export or permission In Progress – Portal task complete – Review pending A CFIA agent needs to review the portal task that you completed recently.
Active Export In progress – Awaiting technical guidance Additional guidance (to support the export case) is being sought outside of the Service unit.
Active Export or permission In progress – CFIA inspection triggered Inspection staff need to review your service request. You may need an onsite inspection to complete the service request.
Active Export or permission In progress – Issuance in progress The CFIA is in the process of issuing the permission or certificate you have requested.
Active Export In progress – Awaiting payment decision We are calculating the case processing fees for the service request.
Active Permission On hold – Awaiting information from applicant You've submitted your permission application, but we need more information before we can process your request.
Active Export On hold – Awaiting ASP inspection An ASP (Alternate Service Provider) inspection needs to happen before your application for an export certificate can continue.
Active Export or permission On hold – Awaiting payment You need to pay for the permission before we can process your request.
Active Permission On hold – Awaiting product/ establishment availability Your service request is on hold until we can inspect your product or establishment.
Resolved Export or permission Closed – Complete Your service request is complete and we have issued your permission or certificate.
Cancelled Permission Denied – Enforcement Your service request is denied for regulatory reasons.
Active Export or permission On Hold – Profile validation pending Your service request is on hold until a CFIA agent can confirm your profile information.
Active Export In progress – Response investigation Your export certificate case is being investigated in response to a Foreign Competent Authority (FCA) request.
Active Export or permission In progress – Issuance decision pending We have reviewed the information you provided. We are making a decision about whether to issue the certificate you requested.
Active Export On hold – Task pending You must complete a portal task before your service request can proceed. This could include adding more information or supporting documents.
Active Export On hold – Amendment requested You have requested to amend your service request.
Active Export On hold – Emergency response/ control measure We have identified a hazard, which we need to mitigate before you can continue applying for an export certificate. This could include a recall, a banned commodity, or a food safety issue.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn – Change in requirements The Foreign Competent Authority (FCA) has changed their requirements and you withdrew your service request.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn – Requirements not met The inspection results indicate that your commodity does not meet all requirements. You withdrew your application.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn – Change in information The information you provided has changed. You withdrew your application.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn – Trade restrictions There were trade restrictions for your commodity/country. You withdrew your application.
Cancelled Export Withdrawn – Other You withdrew your application for another reason.
Resolved Export or permission Denied – Requirements not met Your facility or commodity doesn't comply with domestic and/or Foreign Competent Authority (FCA) regulations.
Resolved Permission Denied – Enforcement Your application has been denied due to an enforcement action.
Resolved Export or permission Denied – Trade restrictions Your application is denied because a market access change caused borders to close. This could be because of political sanctions, embargoes, or change in disease and pest statuses.
Resolved Export or permission Denied – Application error Your application contains an error that needs to be fixed.
Resolved Export or permission Denied – Not Required You don't need a permission for the service you requested.
