Imported shell egg and egg products

The use of egg or egg products imported from certain countries may limit exports to Taiwan. These limitations are usually associated with the animal health status of the country of origin of the egg or egg products, specifically, highly pathogenic avian influenza and Newcastle Diseases. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to assure that the conditions are met, and provide appropriate documentation, to the inspector, where necessary.

5. Documentation requirements

Canada has a negotiated certificate with Taiwan.

The export of egg products to Taiwan must comply with the food safety requirements as outlined by Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) as well as the animal health requirements of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ).

The exporter is required to request two copies of the export certificate; one each for TFDA and BAPHIQ, respectively.

6. Other information

Exported products transiting through a country may require transit documentation. It is the responsibility of the exporter to ensure that the shipment will be accompanied by all necessary certificates. Please work closely with your importer.

Samples (personal or commercial) of dairy products may be subject to the same requirements as a regular shipment. It is strongly recommended that the exporter verify these requirements with his importer and/or at the border inspection post where the products will be shipped.
