India - Export requirements for milk and dairy products

Canada does not have a negotiated certificate with India. The import of milk and dairy products (including lactose) to this country requires an import permit and a veterinary certificate. Currently, the requirements as described on the veterinary certificate of India cannot be met.

Additional information

Lactose, which is not considered a dairy product in Canada but it is in India, has already been exported to this country based on the commercial risk. However, additional information brought to the attention of the CFIA, indicate that Indian authorities will pay particular attention to the fact that all dairy products (including lactose) imported into India are to be accompanied by a veterinary certificate.

India's import certification requirements for milk and dairy products are available on India's website of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying.
