Effective February 8, 2019, the operating licence of Establishment 1083, Ocean Fresh Mussel Growers Ltd., was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.
July 5, 2018, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the registration of Establishment 1083, Ocean Fresh Mussel Growers Ltd., in Summerford, NL, effective June 29, 2018.
The CFIA has determined that adequate controls for food safety are not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis, which is a violation of the Fish Inspection Regulations.
There is no recall associated with this suspension.
The company will not be able to resume operations until it has fully implemented the necessary corrective actions and the CFIA is fully confident in the facility's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.
Licenses and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations.
