Notice to Industry – Trade memorandum T-4- 124: Export certificates under the Fertilizers Act are now available

March 24, 2017 – Ottawa, ON

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is now issuing export certificates for certain fertilizers and supplements. These certificates are not mandatory for export, but aim to facilitate access of Canadian products to foreign markets.

Export certificates certify that the product meets Canadian regulatory requirements with respect to safety and identity. An export certificate does not confirm compliance with Canadian labelling standards.

Products eligible for export certificates include:

  • Single fertilizer and supplement materials on Schedule II of the Fertilizers Regulations
  • Products otherwise exempt from registration
  • Products currently registered under the Fertilizers Act

Applicants should still ensure the required documentation is included in the application package as outlined in trade memorandum for export certificates.
