The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) cannot issue any type of export certificate to Belarus unless the exporter was able to obtain an export permit from Global Affairs Canada.

Exporters are to contact the Export Controls Division (TIE), of Global Affairs Canada before making arrangements to export any goods to obtain an export permit under the authority of the Export and Import Permits Act. Global Affairs Canada will review all applications for permits to export items to Belarus on a case-by-case basis.

As Belarus is part of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and based on the information obtained by the Canadian exporters, CFIA can issue CFIA 5555 for the export of pork to Belarus. CFIA Veterinarians and Inspectors must verify that the pork products exported to Belarus meet the requirements of the Canadian Ractopamine Free Pork Certification Program. In addition, the signing veterinarians must obtain a letter of commercial risk when issuing CFIA 5555 for Belarus.
