The audit was undertaken under the specific provisions of Canadian laws and regulations, in particular:
- The Meat Inspection Act; and
- The Meat Inspection Regulation 1990
The audit standards also included all applicable EU regulations determined as equivalent (or in the process of) as part of the Agreement between the European Community and the Government of Canada on sanitary measures to protect public and animal health in respect of trade in live animals and animal products as amended from time to time as part of bilateral negotiationsFootnote 1.
