Oman – Export requirements for manufactured foods

On this page

1. Eligible/ineligible product

Eligible

At this time, the CFIA understands that the Certificate of Free Sale may be used for export certification of low risk manufactured and processed foods to Oman; however, it is highly recommended for exporters to consult their importers in Oman for potentially different import requirements.

Ineligible

2. Pre-export approvals by the competent authority of the importing country

Licensing under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations is required.

3. Production controls and inspection requirements

The manufacturer of foods which are exported to Oman with a CFIA export certificate must be licensed under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR).

The manufacturer and exporter must be aware of the standards and requirements of the importing country and have specific export controls in place. For more information, consult the CFIA's Food Export Control Policy.

4. Labelling, packaging and marking requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to meet all the requirements for labelling, packaging and marking requirements as per the importing country.

5. Required documents

Certificate

Oman may require the Certificate of Free Sale (CFIA/ACIA 5786) for Canadian exports of manufactured foods. This certificate contains public health attestations that are met based on Canada's Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.

It is the exporter's responsibility to verify the acceptance of the Certificate of Free Sale with their importer.

Notes

6. Other information

Samples (personal or commercial) may be subject to the same requirements as commercial shipments. It is strongly recommended that exporters verify import requirements with their importer.

Halal Certification

CFIA is not involved in Halal certification. Exporters should work with their importer to determine if the product to be exported requires Halal certification.
