Origin & Breeding History: 'Picolette' is the result of a cross between two un-named seedlings made in 1998 in a nursery in Rijpwetering, the Netherlands. The un-named seedlings used in the cross were the result of a cross between 'Munstead Red' and 'Red Cauli'. The new variety was selected from the seedling population in 1999 based on improved plant form and improved floral traits.

Tests & Trials: Trials were conducted during the summer of 2009 in Oxford Station, Ontario. Nine plants of each variety were grown in 15 cm pots in a polyhouse. Plants were spaced approximately 60 cm apart. Observations and measurements were taken on 9 plants of each variety. Colours were determined using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
