Origin & Breeding History: 'DSALBIBLUE' originated from an open pollinated cross conducted by the breeder, Gavriel Danziger, between 'SAF-11-1082', as the female parent, and an unknown male parent in June 2011 in Moshav Mishmar Hashiva, Israel. The seed resulting from the cross was sown in a greenhouse and seedlings were selected on March 1, 2012 for further evaluation. On May 31, 2012, 'DSALBIBLUE' was selected for its plant growth habit and structure, uniform flowering along stems, flower colour and flower abundance. 'DSALBIBLUE' was first propagated by vegetative cuttings in Mishmar Hashiva, Israel.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'DSALBIBLUE' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2016 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. Plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 3.8 liter pots on April 20, 2016. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on June 7, 2016. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
