Variety used for comparison: 'Bintje'

Summary: The base of the lightsprout of 'Lady Anna' has medium to dense pubescence whereas the base of the lightsprout of 'Bintje' has sparse pubescence. The plants of 'Lady Anna' are shorter than the plants of 'Bintje'. The frequency of coalescence of the terminal and lateral leaflets is absent or very low for 'Lady Anna' whereas the frequency of coalescence of the terminal and lateral leaflets is low for 'Bintje'. The peduncle of 'Lady Anna' has a medium to high extent of anthocyanin colouration whereas the peduncle of 'Bintje' has a low extent of anthocyanin colouration.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Lady Anna' originated from a cross conducted between 'CMK1993-042-005' and 'Fontane' in 2000 in Rilland, Netherlands. 'Lady Anna' was selected in 2002 for its positive agronomic characteristics.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Lady Anna' was conducted by Global Agri Services Inc. during the growing season of 2016 in Drummond, New Brunswick. The trial consisted of a single, 19.5 metre long row containing 65 plants spaced 0.3 metres apart for each variety. The distance between rows within the trial was 0.9 metres. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety. Mean differences were significant at the 5% probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
