Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEPH14248' was bred and developed by the breeder, Antonella Capo, in Latina, Italy. It originated from a hybrid cross conducted in July 2010, in Latina, between the selection designated 'PH-2009-1404', as the female parent, and the variety 'Balspunredim' (Sun Spun Red), as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, seedlings were selected in April 2011, in Latina, for their plant growth habit, foliage quality, flower colour and flower quality. These seedlings were evaluated in multiple greenhouse trials between October 2011 and May 2013. In May 2013, in Stuttgart, Germany, 'KLEPH14248' was selected for commercialization.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEPH14248' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1644, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt under reference number PTU 1025 in Hannover, Germany, in 2016. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
