Summary: The leaf blade and peduncle of 'HR 01' have no pubescence while the leaf blade and peduncle of 'White Sarah Bernardt' have pubescence. The upper side of the leaf blade of 'HR 01' is dark green while it is medium green for 'White Sarah Bernardt'.

Description:

PLANT: no branching

PEDUNCLE: round shape in cross-section, no pubescence, dark green on basal part, medium to strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration

PETIOLE: no pubescence
LEAF: decompound arrangement
LEAF BLADE: deeply lobed, dark green on upper side, glossiness on upper side, medium green on lower side, no glossiness on lower side, medium concave in cross-section, pubescence present, entire margin, acuminate tip

PEDICEL: medium green to dark green, weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration, no pubescence
FLOWER HEAD: double, flowers of second order present
CALYX: five sepals, broad ovate, medium green to dark green, medium to strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration, slightly to moderately concave in cross-section
PETAL: obovate shape, inner side is white (RHS NN155A), weakly dentate incisions of margin
STAMEN: many, white filament, no anthers or stigma present

Origin & Breeding History: 'HR 01' originated from a hybrid cross conducted by the breeder H.M. Ruiter in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The cross was made in May 1980 between the variety 'Duchess De Nemour' as the female parent, and variety 'Sarah Bernhardt' as the male parent. In May 1986, 'HR 01' was selected as a single plant from the resulting progeny based on its flower colour, flower size and flower fragrance. 'HR 01' was first propagated by division in 1987 in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'HR 01' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2011/1481, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2012.
