Origin & Breeding History: The variety 'KLEOE08161' originated from a pollination made in Stuttgart, Germany in July 2005. The cross was between an unnamed proprietary seedling and an unknown male parent. Approximately 500 seedlings were selected based on criteria for compact growth habit, flower colour, good branching and leaf colour. One of these seedlings was designated 'KLEOE08161'. The variety was evaluated in greenhouse trials in Stuttgart and assessed for compact growth habit, flower colour and good branching. Outdoor trials were conducted to assess plant vigour and abundant continuous flowering.

Tests & Trials: Trials for 'KLEOE08161' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2010 in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of fifteen plants of the candidate and reference varieties. Rooted cuttings were transplanted into 11 cm pots on April 28, 2010. Observations and measurements were taken from ten plants or parts of plants on June 30, 2010. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
