In April 2007, a single plant from the progeny was selected by the breeder based on flower colour, plant habit and production characteristics.

Tests & Trials: Trials for 'Ban Whit' were conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2010 in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of fifteen plants of the candidate and reference varieties. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on May 18, 2010.
