Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'SAKIMP025'

Summary: The upper part of the shoot and the petiole of 'SAKIMP056' have a weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas those of 'SAKIMP025' have a very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration. The flower of 'SAKIMP056' has a small eye zone that is medium blue pink whereas 'SAKIMP025' has medium sized eye zone that is dark red.

LEAF BLADE: short, narrow, small to medium length to width ratio
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
LEAF BLADE (LOWER SIDE): green between veins, green veins

PEDICEL: medium length, very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
FLOWER: single type, narrow to medium width, one colour excluding eye zone
COROLLA (INNER SIDE): orange red (RHS N30B) to light red (RHS N30A)
EYE ZONE: small, medium blue pink (RHS 58D)
UPPER PETAL: narrow to medium width
LATERAL PETAL: broad
LOWER PETAL: short to medium length

Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKIMP056' originated from an interspecific hybridization made in Misato, Japan. The hybridization was made between the female parental line 'NH-248-29H' and the male parental line 'NJ-312-31H' in June 2011. The resulting F1 progeny was evaluated in a field trial conducted in Misato, Japan. A single plant was selected based on its flower colour, plant vigour, and rooting characteristics. 'SAKIMP056' was vegetatively propagated and further evaluated in another field trial in Misato, Japan from June to August 2015.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKIMP056' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2019/0326, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2020. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
