The first selection occurred in Moncarapacho, Portugal in the spring of 2003. Cuttings from the selected seedling were taken back to Hillscheid, Germany for further examination and trial cultivation in the spring to summer of 2004. 'Fisimp Salm' was selected based on flower colour, growth characteristics and plant growth habit.
