This cross was conducted in April 2004 in Kerteminde, Denmark as part of a breeding program with objectives to develop improved, unique flower colours. From the resulting population of seedlings, 'Navajo Spirit' was selected in the spring of 2009 using large bud size and large flower size as the initial selection criteria.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Navajo Spirit' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2009/1494, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the University of Aarhus in Aarslev, Denmark, in 2010. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
