The female parent was a proprietary seedling, designated DS03-98-1, characterized by its light pink flower colour, and the male parent was a proprietary seedling, designated DS04-41-1, characterized by its rose flower colour. The resultant seed was sown in a greenhouse in Andijk in March 2004. In July 2004, a single plant from the progeny was selected based on criteria for large flower size and compact growth habit.

Tests & Trials: The trials for 'Dala Ros08' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2007 in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants of each variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings transplanted into 11 cm pots on March 20, 2007. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on May 23, 2007. All colour measurements were made using the 2001 RHS colour chart.
