Origin & Breeding History: 'Dala Whit' was developed by the breeder Johanna Jonkers, an employee of Goldsmith Seeds Europe, The Netherlands, as part of a planned breeding program. The variety originated from a selfed cross of 'DSZ-40-6', a proprietary seedling with rose coloured flowers. The cross was made by the breeder in February 2003. The resultant seed was sown in May 2003, and in July 2003 a single plant was selected by the breeder based on leaf colour, flower colour and branching habit.

Tests & Trials: The trials for 'Dala Whit' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2006 in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants of each variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings transplanted into 11 cm pots on March 31, 2006. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on May 17, 2006. All colour measurements were made using the 2001 RHS colour chart.
