Selection criteria included tall plant height, profusion of semi-nodding violet flowers, summer flowering, suitability to garden situations and very long growing season.
Tests & Trials: 'Evipo007' was tested at St. Thomas, Ontario. Ten bare root liners of both the candidate and reference variety were planted in the field on September 18, 2004. Plants were spaced .6 metres apart and trained to grow along a trellis. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plant parts on June 15, 2006. All colour measurements were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
