Variety used for comparison: 'Anastasia'
Summary: The lowest lateral sinus of the leaf of 'Dekcarolle' is deep whereas it is of medium depth for 'Anastasia'. The predominant shape of the base of the leaf of 'Dekcarolle' is cordate whereas the base of the leaf of 'Anastasia' is obtuse. The angle between the primary lateral shoot and the stem is small for 'Dekcarolle' whereas the angle is of medium size for 'Anastasia'.
PLANT: medium to tall, non-bushy type, eight week response time to flowering when grown with precise day length control
PETIOLE: moderately upwards attitude, short to medium length relative to leaf length
LEAF: moderately upwards attitude, medium to long (including petiole), medium to broad, low to medium length to width ratio, medium length of terminal lobe relative to leaf length, deep lowest lateral sinus, overlapping margins of lowest lateral sinus, predominantly cordate base, absent or very weak glossiness of upper side, medium green on upper side
LEAF MARGIN: few to medium number of incisions, medium depth of incisions
INFLORESCENCE: cylindrical form, very narrow to narrow at widest point, small angle between primary lateral shoot and stem, upright to semi-upright attitude of lateral flower heads
PEDUNCLE: very short to short
FLOWER BUD: outer side is yellow green (RHS 150D) just before opening
FLOWER HEAD: few per stem, double type, medium diameter on non-disbudded plants, tall on non-disbudded plants, medium density of ray florets
RAY FLORET: predominantly quilled type, ribbed upper surface, very long corolla tube, profile of tube in cross-section is flattened, longitudinal axis is weakly incurved from extreme tip to distal quarter, longitudinal axis of ray floret from inner row is moderately incurved along distal quarter, medium length, very narrow to narrow, very high length to width ratio, rounded tip, white (RHS NN155D) on inner side, colour of outer side is similar to colour of inner side, outer side of ray floret from inner row is yellow green (RHS 1D)
Origin & Breeding History: 'Dekcarolle' was bred and developed by the breeder, Cornelis W. Dekker, in Hensbroek, Netherlands, as part of a planned breeding program. It originated from a hybrid cross conducted in February 2010 between the proprietary seedling designated '08.73559.05', as the female parent, and the proprietary seedling designated '08.72646.01', as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, 'Dekcarolle' was selected in November 2010 for its uniform flowering, and good production qualities. 'Dekcarolle' was first propagated by cuttings in December 2010, in Hensbroek, Netherlands. It was designated for commercialization in June 2012.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Dekcarolle' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/1057, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted in 2014 by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany, in Cambridge, United Kingdom. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
