Description:

PLANT: conic shape, fast to very fast growth rate, loose to medium density branching

BRANCH: monstrous type, erect attitude
BRANCHLETS OF FIRST ORDER: many, flat type, oblique spray attitude
BRANCHLETS OF PENULTIMATE AND LAST ORDER: short to very short, very narrow

LEAF: only non-linear type, broad, medium thickness, curved along longitudinal axis, acute tip, few prominent glands, medium degree of glossiness, no variegation
LEAF FROM OUTERMOST BRANCHLETS (UPPER AND LOWER SIDES): green in spring and summer, dark green in winter

Origin & Breeding History: 'King of Brabant' originated as a naturally occurring mutation of the variety 'Brabant' discovered and developed by the breeder, Mr. Wilfried Oltmanns, of Edewecht, Germany. The new variety was discovered in the summer of 2008 at the breeders' nursery in Edewecht, Germany and selected for its growth habit, plant shape and production characteristics. Asexual reproduction of 'King of Brabant' was first conducted by softwood cuttings in January 2010 in Edewecht, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'King of Brabant' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2017/0725, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Research Centre for Cultivar Testing in Zybiszow, Poland from 2018 to 2019.
