Origin & Breeding History: 'INCALMIABE' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Birgit Hofmann, an employee of InnovaPlant GmbH. & Co. KG. in Gensingen, Germany. The cross was made between the female parent 'USCALI28' (Superbells Red) and the male parent 'Ca10-1098-7', a proprietary breeding line, in January 2010 in Heidesheim, Germany. From the resulting progeny, 'INCALMIABE' was selected as a single seedling based on its plant growth habit, flower colour and flower performance. Asexual reproduction of 'INCALMIABE' was first conducted by vegetative cuttings in August 2012 in Gensingen, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'INCALMIABE' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2016 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 30 cm hanging baskets on April 20, 2016. Each basket contained 4 cuttings with a total of 5 baskets per variety. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on June 13, 2016. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
