Origin & Breeding History: 'KRVALPI01' was bred and developed by the breeder Lubbertus H. Koppe in Ermelo, The Netherlands, as part of a planned breeding program. 'KRVALPI01' originated from a hybrid cross conducted in January 2009, between the female parent Begonia tuberosa hybrid 'KV07K1338-09'' and a male Begonia socotrana parent. From the resulting progeny, 'KRVALPI01' was selected as a single seedling in September 2009 based on flower colour and appearance. Asexual reproduction of 'KRVALPI01', by cuttings, was first conducted in January 2010 in Ermelo, The Netherlands.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KRVALPI01' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/2846, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany, in 2014. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
