Sanitary Requirements for Export of Hides and Skins from Canada to Vietnam HA 2539 (November 3, 2009)
Canada has been free from Foot-and-Mouth Disease, Vesicular Stomatitis, Rinderpest,
Lumpy Skin Disease, Peste des Petits Ruminants, Rift Valley Fever, Swine Vesicular Disease, Classical Swine Fever, Sheep
and Goat Pox, African Swine Fever and African Horse Sickness for six (6) months prior to export. Vaccination against these
diseases is prohibited in Canada.
The hides and skins are derived from animals:
that did not show as a result of the ante mortem inspection any clinical signs of
reportable animal disease transmisible to humans or animals through this product; and
that were presented to post mortem inspection.
The hides and skins were obtained, stored and transported in such a manner as to prevent
contamination by communicable animal disease pathogens.
