Sanitary Requirements for Export of Blood Meal (all Species) to the Philippines
HA 2583 (Amended August 4, 2010)

  1. The products have been processed in a rendering plant operating under a valid permit issued under the authority of Health of Animal Act by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
  2. The products are derived from animals that were either born or raised in Canada or were legally imported into Canada upon meeting all Canadian animal health requirement for entry.
  3. The exported products have been subjected to routine testing for Salmonella in accordance with the Animal Protein Producers Industry (APPI) protocol in an APPI approved laboratory.


    The exported products have been tested negative for Salmonella in third part laboratory recognized by the CFIA.

  4. The exported product has been sufficiently heat processed to ensure destruction of microbiological pathogens harmful to animal health.
  5. Renderers can demonstrate that precautions to avoid contamination of the product with pathogenic agents following processing were taken.
  6. Renderers can demonstrate precautions have been taken to ensure the products have been transported in clean conditions.
