When using the Fish List database, you are able to search on English, French or Scientific name, as well as by Taxonomic Serial Number (TSN), by Family Scientific name and by species risk group.

Enter the name or TSN on which you are searching, and click submit. You can use partial names or numbers, e.g entering sole, will return all names with sole in the common name, e.g., tounguesole. You can also enter partial text, e.g., entering co in English search will return all entries with "co" in the English common name, cod, cisco, bocourti, etc.

There is additional functionality within the search screen, which will allow users to pick from a list of names. Using the "Choose from list" button will return a list of all applicable common names related to an entry. As above, putting co in the search field, and clicking search from list, will return a list of all English common names beginning with co, e.g., coalfish, cob, cobia, etc.

Clicking on the name you are searching for will input that entry in the search field, and you then hit submit, and the listing for that specie will be displayed. Clicking on the name you are searching for will input that entry in the search field. You can then click submit, and the listing for that species will be displayed.

If you merely wish to browse the list, not entering any data in the search screen and clicking submit will return the entire list.
