Ashley Gillespie: Inspects 55,000 Chickens Daily; Rides the Rodeo
Those are pretty unique credentials. Ashley Gillespie estimates that every day between 55,000 and 75,000 chickens pass in front of her and other CFIA inspectors at a poultry slaughter and processing plant in Manitoba. As for the rodeo, she trains and rides horses on evenings and weekends for the event's wild "barrel run."
An agricultural studies graduate, Ashley describes her time with the CFIA enthusiastically. "There is so much diversity and endless opportunities here—I wish everyone, university students especially, could hear about the CFIA. My work is rewarding and I know that the Agency supports my career and me as an individual."
