Effective February 7, 2017, the the Fish Import Licence of Kraft Heinz Canada ULC was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

November 16, 2016, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the fish import licence of Kraft Heinz Canada ULC,  located in Toronto, Ontario, effective November 10, 2016.

There is no recall associated with this suspension.

The fish import licence was suspended because the company contravened section 6(2)(e) of the Fish Inspection Regulations. The company failed to notify the CFIA of fish imports within 48 hours of arrival.

The company may not import fish into Canada while its fish import licence is suspended.

An appeal can be requested within 60 days of suspension of the fish import licence. This request must be accompanied by an acceptable, written corrective action plan.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its website.
