Effective June 28, 2019, the licence of Inovata Foods (Est. 219) was reinstated and the establishment was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.

July 5, 2019, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the Safe Food for Canadians licence of Establishment 219, Inovata Foods Corporation (IFC), a meat processing establishment located in Tillsonburg, Ontario, effective June 27, 2019, pursuant to the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.

While the suspension is in effect, the licence holder may not conduct any activity for which licence number 8LJNB78T was issued.

There is no food recall associated with this suspension.

CFIA suspended the licence because the licence holder failed to comply with provisions related control measures of ready to eat (RTE) meat and poultry products and sampling of RTE food contact surfaces in accordance with the applicable provisions of Subsection 47(2) of the Regulations.

Industry is responsible for the safety and quality of their food products and for ensuring that they comply with Canada's food laws. CFIA is committed to enforcing those laws.

The suspension may be lifted if CFIA determines that acceptable corrective actions were taken to address the non-compliance(s). If measures are not taken within 90 days after suspension, CFIA may cancel the licence.
