Effective May 3, 2018, the registration of Establishment 985, Taiwan Foods Products Ltd. was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.

March 16, 2018, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the licence to operate of Establishment 985 Taiwan Foods Products Ltd. effective March 1, 2018. The company is located in Surrey, British Columbia.

There is no recall associated with this suspension.

The CFIA has determined that adequate controls for food safety are not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis, as required by the Fish Inspection Regulations. The company was found to be processing shellfish without a valid shellfish registration.

The company will not be able to resume operations until it has fully implemented the necessary corrective actions and the CFIA is fully confident in the facility's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. See a complete list of suspensions and cancellations.
