CFIA suspends the operating licence of Establishment 587, KML Meat Processors Ltd.
Effective Jan. 11, 2017, the operating licence of Establishment 587, KML Meat Processors Ltd. was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
December 14, 2016, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the operating licence of Establishment 587, KML Meat Processors Ltd., a registered meat slaughter and processing facility located in Westwold, BC, effective December 13, 2016.
The operator's licence has been suspended because of a failure to effectively maintain and implement a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program as required by the Meat Inspection Regulations, 1990.
There are currently no food safety issues associated with this suspension and no product being recalled at this time.
The operator will not be able to resume activities related to the processing of meat products until the CFIA determines that the required corrective measures have been taken.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its website.
