CFIA Suspends Registration of Establishment # 3788, JHS Fish Products Canada Ltd.

January 27, 2015 Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended registration of Establishment 3788, JHS Fish Products Canada Ltd., a federally registered fish processing and exporting facility located in Pleasant Lake, Nova Scotia, effective January 22, 2015.

The CFIA has determined that adequate controls for food safety are not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis. The facility is in violation of the Fish Inspection Regulations (FIR) by failing meet the minimum regulatory requirements for establishment construction and equipment.

There is no recall associated with this suspension.

Establishment 3788, JHS Fish Products Canada Ltd. will not be able to resume operations until the facility has fully implemented the necessary corrective actions and the CFIA has verified that the regulatory requirements can be consistently maintained.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its web site.
